How do I claim a refund of excess TDS deducted on crypto?
You claim a refund of excess crypto TDS by filing your income tax return, where the 1 percent Tax Deducted at Source is credited against your final tax liability. If the total TDS exceeds the tax you actually owe, the difference is refunded by the Income Tax Department. For example, if 5,000 rupees of TDS was deducted but your computed liability is 3,000 rupees, you can claim the 2,000 rupee balance as a refund. Check that the deducted amounts appear in your Form 26AS or Annual Information Statement before filing, so the credit matches your records.
