Stablecoins, RWA & Tokenization

Are stablecoins legal in India?

Stablecoins are not banned in India, but they are also not recognized as legal tender, and the regulatory framework remains evolving. Indians can buy, hold, and trade stablecoins through platforms, and gains are taxed under the rules for virtual digital assets. There is no dedicated stablecoin law, so they sit within the broader crypto framework overseen partly by the RBI and the tax authorities rather than as a regulated payment instrument. Anyone using stablecoins should track regulatory updates and consult a qualified professional for their situation.
