What are gas fees when minting an NFT?

Gas fees when minting an NFT are the network charges paid to validators for the computation and storage needed to write the new token onto the blockchain. They are paid in the chain's native currency and vary with network congestion. For example, minting during heavy Ethereum activity costs more because users bid higher fees to have their transaction included sooner, while minting at quieter times costs less. The fee is owed to the network, not the marketplace, and applies whether or not the mint ultimately succeeds.
