What is Video KYC (V-CIP) and how does it work?

Video KYC, formally the Video-based Customer Identification Process or V-CIP, is a method of verifying identity through a live video call instead of an in-person visit. During the call, a trained agent confirms your identity, captures your image, and checks your officially valid documents in real time. For example, you join a scheduled video session, show your PAN or other accepted document, and answer prompts while the agent records the verification. V-CIP lets financial and investment platforms complete remote onboarding while satisfying identity-verification standards.
