What is a fixed supply versus an uncapped supply coin?

A fixed-supply coin has a hard maximum number of tokens that will ever exist, while an uncapped-supply coin has no such ceiling and can keep issuing new tokens indefinitely. Bitcoin is the common example of fixed supply, capped at 21 million; many networks that fund ongoing rewards instead use uncapped models. The distinction shapes how scarcity and issuance work over time, though it is only one input into a token's economics. Knowing which model a token follows is part of reading its design before forming a view.
