What is public-key cryptography in crypto?
Public-key cryptography is a security method that uses a mathematically linked pair of keys, one public and one private, to prove ownership and secure transactions without sharing a secret. The public key can be shared freely so others can send you funds or verify your messages, while the private key stays hidden and authorizes actions. For example, when you receive crypto, the sender uses your public key, but only your private key can move those coins. This pairing is the foundation of how blockchain wallets and digital signatures work.
