Wallets, Security & Custody
What is a crypto wallet?
A crypto wallet is a tool that stores the cryptographic keys used to access and manage your cryptocurrency on a blockchain. It does not hold coins directly; instead it holds the private keys that prove ownership and authorise transactions, while the assets themselves remain recorded on the blockchain. For example, sending Bitcoin means using your wallet's private key to sign a transaction that updates the public ledger. Wallets come in many forms, from mobile apps to dedicated hardware devices, each balancing convenience against security differently.
Crypto investments are subject to market risk and volatility. Past performance is not indicative of future returns. This is general information, not investment advice — consider your own circumstances or consult a qualified adviser before investing.
