Blockchain Infrastructure

What does EVM-compatible mean for a blockchain?

EVM-compatible means a blockchain can run smart contracts written for the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so applications built for Ethereum work on it with little or no rewriting. This compatibility lets developers reuse existing code, tools, and wallets across chains. For example, a decentralized exchange deployed on Ethereum can launch on an EVM-compatible network like Polygon and let users connect the same wallet. The benefit is portability and a shared developer ecosystem; the trade-off is that each compatible chain still makes its own decisions about speed, fees, security, and how it reaches consensus.
