What is Solana and how does it work?

Solana is a high-throughput Layer 1 blockchain designed to process transactions quickly and at low cost. It combines a standard proof-of-stake consensus with a timestamping method called proof of history, which orders transactions before they are confirmed and lets validators process them in parallel. In practice this means a payment or token swap on Solana typically settles in under a second for a fraction of a cent. SOL is its native token, used to pay fees and secure the network. On a research-led platform like Qatobit, assets like SOL are assessed through documented index methodology rather than picked individually.
