Indian Compliance & Tax

What is FIU-IND and why does it matter for crypto users?

FIU-IND, the Financial Intelligence Unit of India, is the national agency that receives and analyses reports on suspicious and high-value financial transactions to counter money laundering. Crypto platforms operating in India must register with FIU-IND as reporting entities and follow KYC and record-keeping obligations under anti-money-laundering law. For users, this means a registered platform verifies your identity and maintains transaction records, which supports a more transparent and accountable environment. Registration is a compliance status, not an endorsement of any investment outcome.

This is general information, not tax advice. Tax rules change and depend on your individual circumstances — verify the current rules or consult a qualified tax professional before acting.
