Which ITR form do I file for crypto income in India?
Most individuals reporting crypto income in India file ITR-2 if they have capital gains and no business income, or ITR-3 if they treat crypto activity as a business or have business income alongside it. Both forms contain Schedule VDA, where Virtual Digital Asset transactions are reported and taxed at a flat 30%. For example, a salaried investor who sold crypto during the year would typically use ITR-2. The correct form depends on your full income profile, so confirm your situation with a qualified tax professional before filing.
