What is token-weighted voting in a DAO?

Token-weighted voting is a DAO governance model where each member's voting power is proportional to the number of governance tokens they hold. One token equals one vote, so a holder with 1,000 tokens carries ten times the weight of a holder with 100. This ties influence to stake in the project, which can align decisions with those most invested, but it also concentrates power among large holders, sometimes called whales. For example, a single founder holding most tokens could decide outcomes alone. Some DAOs add quadratic voting or delegation to soften this concentration.
