What is tokenized gold and how does it work?
Tokenized gold is a digital token on a blockchain where each unit represents a fixed quantity of physical gold held in custody by an issuer. For example, one token might represent one gram of vaulted gold, and the issuer stores that gold and publishes records of its holdings. Owners can transfer the token in small fractions and, depending on the issuer, redeem it for the underlying metal. The token only carries value because real gold is held and verified behind it, so custody arrangements and independent audits are what give it substance, not the token format alone.
