What is the difference between a fungible and a non-fungible token?
A fungible token is interchangeable with any other unit of the same token, while a non-fungible token (NFT) is unique and cannot be swapped one-for-one. One Bitcoin equals any other Bitcoin, so it is fungible; an NFT representing a specific piece of art is distinct from every other, so it is non-fungible. The difference comes down to whether units are identical and divisible or singular and indivisible. For example, a currency token is fungible, whereas a tokenized event ticket with a seat number is non-fungible. This is a technical distinction.
