What is a smallest unit like a satoshi or wei?
A smallest unit is the finest division a cryptocurrency can be broken into, named per network: a satoshi is one hundred-millionth of a Bitcoin, and a wei is one quintillionth (10 to the minus 18) of an Ether. These units let networks handle very small amounts and precise calculations without rounding errors. For example, sending 0.0001 BTC is recorded internally as 10,000 satoshis. The units are fixed technical constants of each protocol and simply describe divisibility, not worth.
