Blockchain Infrastructure

What is a blockchain bridge and how does it work?

A blockchain bridge is a tool that lets assets or data move between two separate blockchains that cannot natively communicate. It typically locks a token on the source chain and issues an equivalent representation on the destination chain, then reverses the process when you move back. For example, bridging USDC from Ethereum to Polygon locks it on Ethereum and mints a matching amount on Polygon. Bridges expand where an asset can be used, though they also concentrate risk at the bridge contract. Qatobit's research-led approach weighs such structural exposures within its index methodology.
