What is account abstraction in crypto wallets?

Account abstraction is a design that lets a crypto wallet be controlled by programmable smart contract logic rather than a single fixed private key. It works by turning the account itself into code, so rules like spending limits, multiple approvers, or alternative recovery methods can be built in. For example, a wallet using account abstraction could require two signatures for large transfers and allow a fee to be paid in a stablecoin instead of the native token. This makes wallets more flexible and recoverable than traditional key-only accounts, while introducing dependence on the underlying contract code.

Crypto investments are subject to market risk and volatility. Past performance is not indicative of future returns. This is general information, not investment advice — consider your own circumstances or consult a qualified adviser before investing.
