Stablecoins, RWA & Tokenization
What is on-chain settlement?
On-chain settlement is the process of finalising a transaction directly on a blockchain, where ownership transfers and payment are recorded together in the ledger rather than through separate clearing and banking systems. Once a transaction is confirmed on the chain, it is settled and effectively irreversible, often within seconds or minutes. For example, swapping a tokenized bond for a stablecoin can complete payment and transfer of ownership in a single step. This contrasts with traditional markets, where trade and settlement can take days and pass through multiple intermediaries.
