Crypto SIP into one coin or an index, Qatobit against CoinSwitch

CoinSwitch's Crypto SIP buys one chosen coin at a time. Qatobit's Crypto SIP into a QSI index buys a basket rebalanced monthly on a published rule.

The point

CoinSwitch's Crypto SIP buys one chosen cryptocurrency, from more than 400 coins. It starts at ₹100 a transaction. Qatobit's Crypto SIP into a QSI index buys a basket of three to five assets. It rebalances monthly, on a rule published before launch, from ₹2,000 per cadence. The same rupee amount buys a different number of things. An investor who wants to pick one coin is served by CoinSwitch. An investor who wants a fixed monthly rule is served by Qatobit QSI.

What each product is

CoinSwitch describes its Crypto SIP as a way to invest "a fixed amount... in the selected crypto at regular intervals." The investor chooses the coin, the amount and the repeat date. CoinSwitch's own SIP page names Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu among its more than 400 supported coins.

Qatobit is a crypto index investing platform in India. Investors hold a curated basket of digital assets, rebalanced on a published methodology, rather than picking coins.

CoinSwitch at a glance against Qatobit

  • Basket or index product: CoinSwitch sells none today. Its 2022 index, CRE8, tracked eight coins as an informational benchmark, never a product on sale. That page now redirects to CoinSwitch's homepage. Qatobit sells four QSI indices, each a permanent basket investors buy and hold.
  • SIP: CoinSwitch's Crypto SIP buys one chosen coin, from ₹100 a transaction. The investor sets the coin, the amount and a repeat date. CoinSwitch's own page names a "monthly SIP option" on its Buy screen. Qatobit's SIP into an index buys three to five assets, rebalanced monthly, from ₹2,000 per cadence. A Qatobit SIP into a single asset starts at ₹500 weekly or biweekly.
  • Fee: CoinSwitch's 2026 fee guide explains maker and taker fees in general terms. It names no specific rate for CoinSwitch's own platform, as read on 14 September 2026. Qatobit charges 0.35 percent of the transaction amount on every index buy, sell or rebalance. There is no annual management fee.
  • Proof of reserves: CoinSwitch has published six reports since the first on 17 November 2022. Each was reviewed under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's SRS 4400 standard. The sixth, from 25 May 2026, reports crypto reserves of ₹2,140.58 crore against customer crypto holdings of ₹1,673.41 crore, a 1.28x ratio. INR reserves stood at ₹219.75 crore against customer balances of ₹73.83 crore, a 2.97x ratio. Qatobit's proof of reserves is live and available at any time.
  • Registrations, as published: CoinSwitch's homepage carries an "FIU REGISTERED" badge. It describes CoinSwitch as "registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit - India." A second badge reads "ISO/IEC 27001:2022" for information security. Qatobit states nothing about its own registration status in this comparison.
  • Scale: CoinSwitch states more than 2.5 crore registered users on its own About Us page. Its Google Play listing shows 4.4 stars from 5.71 lakh reviews. Downloads exceed 1 crore. Qatobit does not publish a comparable user count.

What ₹25,000 a month buys, one coin against a basket

A monthly SIP of ₹25,000 into CoinSwitch buys one chosen cryptocurrency. CoinSwitch's own fee pages, read on 14 September 2026, name no specific rate for that purchase. The cost cannot be worked out from what CoinSwitch itself publishes.

The same ₹25,000 a month into Qatobit's QSI Growth index buys proportional exposure to five holdings. They are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Gold and a stable reserve, rebalanced on the same date every month. The fee is 0.35 percent of the transaction amount: ₹87.50 on a ₹25,000 buy, ₹1,050 across twelve such months. There is no annual management fee, and nothing charged to leave, at any holding period.

The same ₹25,000 also buys a different number of things. It is one coin's worth of exposure on CoinSwitch. It is five holdings' worth on Qatobit's QSI Growth, rebalanced on a rule published before the first buy.

Where CoinSwitch is genuinely stronger

CoinSwitch has published six Proof of Reserves reports since 17 November 2022. That is the longest-running independent reserves practice among the platforms in this series, each reviewed under the ICAI's SRS 4400 standard. CoinSwitch names its backers on its own About Us page. It calls them "some of the world's leading investors including a16z, Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital India." Its own count of registered users passes 2.5 crore. Its Crypto SIP reaches more than 400 coins from a ₹100 entry, a wider catalogue and a lower ticket than a single-coin SIP on Qatobit. Through CoinSwitch Cares, described on CoinSwitch's own building-blocks post as "a one-of-a-kind ₹600-crore recovery program," the company committed to help users affected by the alleged WazirX cyberattack of July 2024. It updated its payout process after the Singapore High Court approved WazirX's loss restructuring scheme on 13 October 2025.

Where Qatobit is stronger

Qatobit names every holding on every QSI index's own product page. Each index's methodology is documented and published before launch. CoinSwitch's own fee pages name no rate for that same kind of purchase, as read this run. Qatobit states 0.35 percent of the transaction amount on every index buy, sell or rebalance. There is no annual management fee, and nothing charged to leave at any holding period. CoinSwitch's proof of reserves arrives as a periodic report, six editions since 2022. Qatobit's is live and available at any time.

The QSI indices, in full

Qatobit runs four QSI Crypto Indices.

  • QSI Core holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold and a stable reserve (USDT Earn).
  • QSI Growth holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Gold and a stable reserve (USDT Earn).
  • QSI VRION holds Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, with no hedge layer.
  • QSI GEQ8 holds eight global companies across three sleeves. The platform sleeve holds Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta Platforms and NVIDIA. The digital finance sleeve holds Coinbase and Robinhood Markets. The innovation sleeve holds Tesla. No holding sits above 15 percent or below 3 percent, and the composition gets a quarterly review. QSI GEQ8 holds global equities, not crypto. The other three indices hold crypto.

Every holding on every index is named on Qatobit's own product pages. Each index's methodology is documented and published before launch. Every index rebalances monthly. The minimum per index is ₹2,000, and a Crypto SIP into an index also starts at ₹2,000 per cadence. A Crypto SIP into a single asset instead of a basket starts at ₹500 weekly or biweekly. Buying, selling or rebalancing any index costs 0.35 percent of the transaction amount, shown before the investor confirms. No index carries an annual management fee, an exit load, a lock-in or a minimum holding period, at any holding period. INR deposits and withdrawals run through NEFT, RTGS or IMPS, with a ₹200 minimum on either side and no fee. Custody is institutional, and proof of reserves is live.

Who should choose which

An investor who wants to choose a single cryptocurrency and size the position is served by CoinSwitch's ₹100 SIP entry into any of its 400-plus coins. That investor also decides, coin by coin, when to add another one. CoinSwitch sells no basket or index to spread that decision automatically. An investor who wants a fixed monthly rule on a published set of holdings is served by Qatobit QSI. That comes at a ₹2,000 minimum, with a live proof-of-reserves page and no charge to leave at any time. An investor who wants to buy and sell often across derivatives, use futures or options, or hold more than 400 individual coins is served by CoinSwitch's wider exchange. Qatobit does not offer that.

How this page was checked

This page was built by reading CoinSwitch's own pages on 14 September 2026. They include the Crypto SIP page, the About Us page and the sixth Proof of Reserves report. They also include the 2026 fee guide, the homepage for the registration badges, the Google Play listing, and the crypto-index page that once carried CRE8. That page now redirects to CoinSwitch's homepage. The CoinSwitch Cares update was read from CoinSwitch's own building-blocks post, dated 28 October 2025 and still live at the same address. Qatobit's figures are drawn from Qatobit's own product documentation. This page is rechecked against the same sources roughly once a month, and the Last verified line above changes in place.

A reader deciding between a single coin and a basket can start with what a crypto index actually is. A basket only helps once the reader knows what one holds and how it changes. The mechanics of a recurring buy, on either platform, are the ones covered in what a crypto SIP calculator should show you. A published reserves report is only as useful as what it actually verifies, a question covered in does proof of reserves prove your crypto basket is backed. A platform that sells both a low-ticket single-coin SIP and a basket product is compared in Qatobit vs ZebPay CryptoPacks and the ₹100 Bitcoin SIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does CoinSwitch sell a crypto basket or index product?

Not as a product on sale today. CoinSwitch's Crypto Rupee Index, CRE8, launched in 2022 as an informational benchmark. Its page at coinswitch.co/crypto-index now redirects to CoinSwitch's homepage, as read on 14 September 2026. Qatobit sells four QSI indices as investable products.

What is the minimum to start a Crypto SIP on CoinSwitch and on Qatobit?

CoinSwitch's Crypto SIP into one coin starts from ₹100 a transaction. Qatobit's Crypto SIP into a QSI index starts from ₹2,000 per cadence, or from ₹500 weekly or biweekly into a single asset instead of a basket.

How many Proof of Reserves reports has CoinSwitch published?

Six, since the first on 17 November 2022. The sixth, published 25 May 2026, reports a 1.28x coverage ratio on crypto reserves and a 2.97x ratio on INR reserves. Both were reviewed under the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's SRS 4400 standard.

What does CoinSwitch's FIU registration badge state?

CoinSwitch's own homepage carries an "FIU REGISTERED" badge, read on 14 September 2026. It describes CoinSwitch as "registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit - India." Qatobit states nothing about its own registration status in this comparison.

Can a single-coin SIP rebalance the way a QSI index does?

No. A single-coin SIP repeats the same buy into the same coin on a repeat date the investor sets. A QSI index rebalances the whole basket on a fixed monthly calendar, published before the index launched.
