The point
Unocoin's Crypto Baskets page lists sixteen themed baskets and states no weighting rule, rebalance schedule or fee for any of them. Qatobit sells four QSI indices, each with its holdings named, a monthly rebalance and one fee of 0.35 percent of the transaction amount. Unocoin suits an investor who wants a long-running exchange with many themes and a small recurring plan. Qatobit suits one who wants the rulebook readable before the first investment.

What each product is
Unocoin describes its baskets as "expertly curated baskets" that let an investor "diversify your crypto portfolio in seconds". The page lists them as themed baskets and sends the investor to a detail page for each. Unocoin Technologies Private Limited has run the platform since July 2013. Source: Unocoin Crypto Baskets.
Qatobit is a crypto index investing platform in India. An investor holds a curated basket of digital assets, rebalanced monthly on a published methodology, rather than picking coins. Qatobit sells four QSI indices: QSI Core, QSI Growth, QSI VRION and QSI GEQ8.

What does a basket need to publish before an investor can judge it?
A basket is a bundle of coins bought in one action. Judging one takes four facts: which coins are inside, how much of each, how often the bundle is reset, and what each reset costs.
Qatobit publishes all four for each of its indices. Unocoin's basket page, as read on 6 November 2026, gives a theme name and a sentence for each basket and no figure for any of the four.
The theme name settles none of the four. A Blue Chip basket could hold three coins or thirty, weighted equally or by size, reset weekly or never. Without the rule, an investor cannot tell a basket's drift from its design.
How do the buy fees compare in rupees?
Unocoin's fee page shows no basket fee in the text read. The one buy fee it works through is an instant buy of Bitcoin. In its words: "if you are buying BTC for 10000 INR, then the transaction fee at 0.5% will be 50 INR", with 9 INR of IGST on top. That is 0.59 percent in all. The comparison below uses that example and does not assume it applies to a basket.
Monthly purchase. An investor puts ₹25,000 a month in for twelve months, ₹3,00,000 in all.
- Unocoin's instant-buy example: 0.5 percent of ₹25,000 is ₹125, and 18 percent GST on ₹125 is ₹22.50, so ₹147.50 per purchase. ₹147.50 × 12 = ₹1,770.
- Qatobit basket buy: 0.35 percent of ₹25,000 is ₹87.50. ₹87.50 × 12 = ₹1,050.
- Qatobit single-asset buy: 0.4 percent of ₹25,000 is ₹100. ₹100 × 12 = ₹1,200.
Lump sum. An investor puts ₹5 lakh in once.
- Unocoin's instant-buy example: ₹5,00,000 × 0.5 percent = ₹2,500, plus ₹450 of GST, ₹2,950 in all.
- Qatobit basket buy: ₹5,00,000 × 0.35 percent = ₹1,750.
The selling fee is not in the text read from Unocoin's fee page, so this page shows buy costs only. Qatobit charges the same 0.35 percent to sell a basket as to buy one, so ₹5 lakh bought and sold costs ₹3,500. The arithmetic assumes a flat price and compares fees alone.
Does an inactive account cost anything?
Unocoin's fee page states a custodial fee of 0.0001 BTC a month, inclusive of 18 percent GST, "for inactive trading accounts". Across twelve months that is 0.0012 BTC. The page gives the reason: the fee covers "a service and maintenance fee that Unocoin pays to provide the crypto deposit, withdrawal and storage services".
Qatobit charges no annual management fee, no holding fee and no exit load on any index. An index held for five years with no activity pays nothing for the time it sat. A fee arrives only when a basket is bought, sold or rebalanced.
What does proof of reserves show on each side?
Proof of reserves is a record that a platform holds at least as much of each asset as its customers are owed. The useful questions are how recent the record is and whether it can be checked.
Unocoin's fee page links to its audit post. The post is dated 5 July 2023. It says the work followed Indian Standard on Related Services 4400 and compared Unocoin's holdings with customer holdings for each asset. It found holdings greater than customer holdings in aggregate. It reports that approximately 98.85 percent of the Bitcoin held for customers was in cold storage. Those are Unocoin's own statements, quoted as published.
That record is a point-in-time audit from 2023. Qatobit publishes live proof of reserves, available at any time. A reader can check the Unocoin audit against its date, and the Qatobit record against today. For what such a record proves, see what Qatobit's proof of reserves is.
Where Unocoin is genuinely stronger
Unocoin's About page says it was "India's first entrant in the bitcoin space", founded in July 2013 in Tumkur and later moved to Bengaluru. Qatobit has no equivalent operating record.
Unocoin's SBP page offers a plan "from just ₹10" with daily, weekly or monthly frequency, and the investor can modify or stop it at any time. For someone building a Bitcoin or Ethereum position in very small steps, that door is wider than Qatobit's.
Unocoin is also a full exchange. Its About page lists an exchange, over-the-counter trading for bulk orders, a mobile app, and an Autosell address. Its fee page lists spot markets, futures and lending. An active trader, or someone who wants to pick individual coins, can do that on Unocoin and cannot on Qatobit.
The basket page offers sixteen themes, from Blue Chip to Volume Leaders. An investor who wants a view on one segment of the market, such as Gaming Tokens or DeFi, finds more choice there than among four QSI indices.
Unocoin has also published a third-party proof-of-reserves audit, with its method named and a cold-storage share stated.
Where Qatobit is stronger
Qatobit prices every basket action at one rate, 0.35 percent, shown before confirmation. There is no annual management fee, no inactive-account charge and no exit load, lock-in or minimum holding period.
Qatobit sells four indices, each a permanent allocation with its own documented methodology, so the investor chooses a thesis rather than a theme. Every holding is named on the product pages, and the rebalance runs monthly on a rule that is published before the index launches.
Rupee rails run through UPI, IMPS, NEFT or RTGS, and withdrawals go directly to the linked bank account, with a ₹200 minimum each way and no fee. Qatobit publishes live proof of reserves, available at any time.
The QSI indices, in full
Qatobit sells four QSI indices. Three hold crypto and one holds global equities.
QSI Core holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold and a stable reserve (USDT Earn). QSI Growth holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Gold and a stable reserve (USDT Earn). QSI VRION holds Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana with no hedge layer. QSI GEQ8 holds eight global companies in three sleeves: Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta Platforms and NVIDIA (platform), Coinbase and Robinhood Markets (digital finance), and Tesla (innovation). No holding in QSI GEQ8 sits above 15 percent or below 3 percent, and its composition is reviewed quarterly. QSI GEQ8 sits outside SEBI regulation and is an index, not a fund.
All four rebalance monthly on a methodology documented per index. The minimum per index is ₹2,000, and a SIP into an index starts at ₹2,000 per cadence. A basket buy, sell or rebalance costs 0.35 percent of the transaction amount, displayed before confirmation. There is no annual management fee, and no exit load, lock-in or minimum holding period on any index. A single-asset buy or sell costs 0.4 percent and a crypto-to-crypto convert costs 0.1 percent. Deposits arrive by UPI, IMPS, NEFT or RTGS and withdrawals go directly to the linked Indian bank account, with a ₹200 minimum each way and no fee.
Who should choose which
Unocoin suits an investor who wants a long-running exchange with many themes. It also suits one who wants a Bitcoin or Ethereum plan in very small steps, or futures and lending beside a basket. That investor accepts that a basket's contents, weights and cost are set out per basket, if at all, rather than on the page where the basket is sold.
Qatobit suits an investor who wants to read the allocation and the rebalance rule before investing, and prefers a cost that arrives only when something moves.
Someone who wants to trade futures, or to pick a single coin and nothing else, is better served by Unocoin's exchange, because Qatobit's indices are built to be held.
How this page was checked
Every Unocoin figure on this page was read from Unocoin's own pages on 6 November 2026. Those pages are the Crypto Baskets page, the SBP page, the fee structure page, the About page and the proof-of-reserves post linked from the fee page. A figure that did not appear in the text read was dropped, and so were figures that sat in tables the pages loaded without text. The Unocoin pages are re-read once a month and the Last verified line is changed in place. Qatobit figures come from Qatobit's product documentation. This page compares no return and no performance.
For the allocation question that comes before the product question, what asset allocation is and what it decides before any pick sets out the framework. Concentration risk shows what a basket is built to limit, and portfolio rebalancing when one holding falls 10 percent walks through a monthly rebalance. For recurring buys, see the comparison of a crypto SIP into an index with a single-coin SIP. What a crypto index is defines the product.
